So, here’s the deal. When the temperature rises outside, I’m not so big on accessorizing. I will do WHATEVER it takes to not melt in the heat and that includes simplifying my outfits as much as possible. I have two priorities when it comes to my summer wardrobe choices:

1. It must keep me cool.
2. It must be comfortable.

Ok, so I want it to look good, too, but the other two requirements definitely come first. I often even ditch necklaces when the sun is beating down!

My desire for simple summer outfits often results in me grabbing a lightweight dress. This summer, I have a new favorite that checks all of the boxes above AND makes a statement all by itself!

Meet the Topanga Dress from Aventura Clothing…

Let’s talk about the name first. Any other Boy Meets World fans/groupies out there like me?! Oh my word – love that show SO much, so the Topanga Dress just called out to me immediately! You’ll also notice I ordered the one with green stripes. Did you expect anything else from this queen of green?! For the record: it also comes with coral, black, or blue stripes!

The Topanga Dress has all the features a woman loves in a dress: flattering design with cap sleeves, super comfortable organic cotton fabric, and POCKETS! My husband is so tired of hearing about my love of pockets in dresses, but I won’t stop saying it – DRESSES WITH POCKETS ARE THE BEST! For that super summer look, I paired it with my go-to leather sandals, gold aviators, and this fabulous packable Uma Sun Hat, also from Aventura! Wouldn’t this work well as a swimsuit cover, too?

I really love the versatility of the Topanga Dress. I had planned to wear it for Easter with some cute tan wedge sandals, but the weather did not cooperate. Since I was really set on wearing this cheerful dress, I just layered it with a denim jacket, leggings, and flats to keep myself warm! I loved the denim jacket look so much and I know I’ll be wearing it like this on cool summer nights often!
