Singing the Word of God!

I received this CD to review. I was not compensated in any way for this post, and all opinions are 100% my own!

My love for Seeds Family Worship goes on and on and on…

From the moment I first heard a Seeds Family Worship CD five years ago, I was hooked. Seven albums later, I have almost every song memorized and every album just gets better and better. I’m kind of partial to Seeds of Courage, that first album we ever owned, but The Word of God, the newest release from Seeds, has me totally smitten.

I guess I’m assuming you know about Seeds Family Worship, but for those of you who are just hearing about them, they are a music-based ministry that creates modern, relevant word-for-word Scripture songs for families!

The Hubby and I were both music majors and, to be honest, a lot of Christian music written for kids or families is just…annoying. There. I said it. This is NOT the case with Seeds. Seeds Family Worship music is catchy, well-written and produced, enjoyable for the WHOLE family, even picky music lovers! Even the albums we’ve had for five years still get played all the time.

Word of God CD Blog

The Word of God, also known as Volume 8, may have my favorite melodies and music out of all Seeds’ albums. I’m a HUGE fan of track #1 {the title track} based on Hebrews 4:12! “Your Life is Hidden” features Matthew West, who has made an appearance on past Seeds CDs. I super duper love the music and message of track #4, “Jesus Christ is Lord,” based on Philippians 2:9-11. “Genuine” is based on one of my favorite chapters of the Bible, Romans 12. And I love everything about the song “Act Like Men,” based on 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. I want to keep this one on repeat for my boys!

Whether you’re just hearing about Seeds today or you have Seeds albums already in your home, I just know you and your family will adore The Word of God!

And right now, you can get 15% off any Seeds Family Worship CDs in their store when you use the code homewiththeboys at checkout! Oh, did I mention that every CD you buy actually comes with TWO identical CDs? One for you and one for a friend! Another thing I just LOVE about Seeds!

Get Your FREE Seeds Family Worship Song!

I’m all giddy today because I get to share with you from the new Seeds Family Worship album! That’s right! All new music from Seeds!

This volume, the seventh from Seeds, is incredible because it it completely focused on who God is. The Character of God features 11 Scripture passages that help us look to Him and His unchanging, wonderful, powerful ways.

“God is Spirit and Truth” is special to me because I have had many reminders of the power of the Holy Spirit lately, all which made me realize how little I’ve relied on it! In the midst of stress, remembering He is Spirit and Truth helps me prove false any negative thoughts that have creeped into my mind and cling to the power of His Spirit in order to move forward!

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. ~John 4:23-24

This song is also a great reminder for our children that God IS truth! When they are confused by messages from this world, His Word is where they will always find truth! And when we worship Him in Spirit and in truth, He will fill us with His presence!

Today, I have the privilege of giving this song to you FREE! Just click below to get yours:

My Unglued Antidote

This week, I finished reading Unglued by Lysa TerKeurst.

Whoa.

I underlined or highlighted something on 90% of the pages of this book.

Ladies, Unglued is a MUST READ book for every single one of you. There are very few books on the planet that this could be said of, but I honestly would recommend this book to any woman with whom I came in contact.

We will all come unglued in some way at one time or another. Learning how to deal with those emotions and prevent most unglued moments is the key.

Lysa offers many wonderful tips for avoiding and handling unglued moments, and many of those involve turning to God’s Word. Truth, as only the Scriptures can provide, is the BEST way to combat the lies of the enemy.

However, when I’m starting to fume and headed towards coming unglued, I’m not very likely to pick up my Bible.

What I AM likely to do is grab my iPhone or iPad and turn on some music, and my preferred music in those moments is kids’ music.

Yep, listening to children’s music helps me get my emotions in check and focus on truth.

Ok, not just any children’s music – it has to be Seeds Family Worship because Seeds IS God’s Word.

It happened just this week. The boys were not listening well. The baby was spitting up all over the place. My to-do list was three miles long. Nothing was going the way I wanted it to in my mind. I was in the kitchen ready to blow – which usually means yelling – and I actually realized what was about to happen.

I grabbed my phone, opened up my music, and clicked on my playlist called “All Seeds.” I have all seven of the Seeds albums on this playlist. I hit “Shuffle” and let God speak to me with whatever pops up.

It never fails – I hear just what I need within minutes of turning on that music.

Last week, it was “Heavenly Lights,” which is James 1:17 set to music…

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…

I cried, but I did NOT come unglued. I cried because I knew exactly the gifts to which the song was referring – too many gifts to count in that moment, but more than enough to snap me out of my emotional funk. I did not yell. I breathed deep. I moved on and my day was not ruined, and neither was my children’s.

THAT is the power of God’s Word, friends. And His Word never returns void – even when you feel like you’re about to lose it.

Seeds Family Worship works for me as my “unglued antidote.” What works for you?

Saturday Seeds: Psalm 46:1-2

Welcome to Saturday Seeds ~ memorizing one Bible verse a week in 2011 with Seeds Family Worship!

Well, this post has been late for several weeks and then I finally got the time to put the video together and my iMovie kept freezing up!

{waves the white flag}

So, instead of a vlog, you will get a blog post this week! Hopefully we’ll be on track next week!

And I’ll start this post with announcing the winners of the Seeds of Character giveaway! They are Leigh, Shonda, Jamie, MaryK, Vanessa and Jenae! Congrats friends! You should each have an email waiting for you telling you what to do next! You will LOVE the new CD!

Now on to our verses…

Psalm 46:1-2 is not a short set of verses to memorize, especially for a 5yo, but Seeds ALWAYS helps that!

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way, and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

We’ve done lots of fun things to memorize verses along with the music, but you’ll never guess what Big J enjoyed most this time around…

Doing the verses as morning copywork!

We haven’t officially started homeschool yet, but we’re incorporating a few activities here and there, and handwriting practice is one of them.

I love the concept of using our memory verse of the week as handwriting practice – writing things down helps me remember them better and it can’t hurt for him either! We used this website to make the sheets for free and will be using it lots more throughout our homeschool journey!

Even if you’re not a homeschool family, your child could do this copywork before or after breakfast in the morning before they leave for school – great way to start the day!

If your child is not writing yet, they could watch you write it on the top of a blank piece of paper. Then he or she could add their own drawing to go with it!

Seeing and hearing the words to memory verses is just another way to hide the Word in their little hearts – and don’t forget to play some Seeds while you’re going about your day!

*****

We’ve been working our way through the Seeds of Courage CD for Saturday Seeds, but Seeds of Character, the sixth album, was just released! We’re moving on over to that for a while, starting with Colossians 3:12 next week!

And if you haven’t ordered your CDs yet, you can use the code HWTB to get 20% off your order at the Seeds store!
