All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, , that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Doorposts is the best resource for Biblical character training materials I have ever found, and I am so excited to share their newest book, For Instruction in Righteousness, with you!

For Instruction in Righteousness is a topical guide for parents that will help you use the Bible every time your children need instruction. 52 common types of misbehavior are listed with hundreds of Bible verses and numerous parenting ideas and suggestions – that is MY kind of parenting guide!

This is the third edition of For Instruction in Righteousness which means it is even better, with over 50 pages added and new ideas developed over the past 18 years.

Here’s why I love it:

I need help.

Child training is one of the hardest things – if not THE hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I’m sure most parents would agree.

The Bible is full of absolutely everything I need as a parent, but in the moment, I can’t find the right verse needed to correct or reward a child! Too much pressure!

That’s where FIIR is a lifesaver!

Obedience is currently an ongoing battle at our house. With both boys.

{I’m sure at least some of you can relate, right?!}

I have spent some time over the past week reading through the verses and suggestions in the disobedience section of FIIR. Yesterday, several opportunities for training in this area presented themselves and yelling was not my first response!

Big J and I spent some time talking through God’s view of disobedience. Although frustration was the first emotion to well up in me, having a few verses in my head helped me switch gears quickly. The time became much more productive and we both walked away calm and, hopefully, a little wiser!

My next goal is to memorize a few key verses suggested in FIIR under the disobedience section and pick at least one to help the boys memorize.

There are so many wonderful suggestions under each topic, but not every idea is for every family! That is the beauty of FIIR – you can pick and choose the activities that will work best with your family and each child. If one thing isn’t getting through, try something else – isn’t that how parenting goes?!

Even in the short time I’ve had this book, it has blessed me. FIIR has encouraged me to always turn to the Bible for guidance in raising our boys AND try new things to reach them! I feel energized!

And you can too, because the wonderful people at Doorposts are giving away a copy of the brand new third edition of For Instruction in Righteousness right here!
