I “met” Jenny Youngman through Twitter and, being a total sucker for discovering new music, was giddy to get a chance to hear her newest album and share it with you!
Jenny is a mama to four little ones {including twins!}, making meaningful music and working as an artist-partner with International Justice Mission and to raise awareness and support in the fight against human trafficking.
Her new album, The Girl with Good Intentions, just released this August, and is full of songs with which I could deeply relate. Along with a gorgeous voice, Jenny’s lyrics are moving and thoughtful and so inspiring.
The title song especially grabbed me with this chorus…
Cause I’m the girl with good intentions
With a heart of compassion I just get distracted
I’ve shed tears for this world
But Lord, your kingdom is coming
And I just want to do something good
How many times have I had these EXACT THOUGHTS?! I love the album’s focus on moving from safe, good intentions, to brave, bold movements for the Kingdom.
Later in the album, the song “To Be Brave” has this line that I can’t shake…
Somewhere along the way
We learn to play it safe
And we forget Jesus made us to be fearless
To live in the light of the day
To be brave
I don’t want to just KNOW this truth. I want to LIVE it and teach my boys to live it as well! He made us to be fearless in Him! Jenny’s words are inspiring to me as a woman, a Christian, and a mom.
If you would like to listen to any songs off this album, you can head over to Jenny’s website to hear each song, read the lyrics, and get your own copy of the album!
And Jenny has graciously offered to give away three signed copies of The Girl with Good Intentions to you! I know the winners will be so blessed by Jenny’s music!
I was provided with a review copy of this album. I was not compensated in any other way for this post, all opinions are 100% my own!
Mandesa is one of my favorites right now. Her Overcomer song really makes you think
I like Jamie Grace and Mandisa. I am always looking for new singers who really touch and inspire in normal day to day life. Thanks for sharing.
I grew up listening to Steven Curtis Chapman and to this day his lyrics still speak to my heart. The lyrics of numerous other Christian recording artists also speak to my heart and soul and I never cease to be amazed at how a certain song that I most need to hear is played on the radio when I most need to hear it. Thank you for sharing this new CD with us. I will certainly be checking Jenny Youngman’s music out.
Seeds Family Worship is great. I love that it is Scripture, and the tunes are good, too!
I love these songs that I recently stumbled across: http://www.scripturesongsforworship.com/ They’re scripture songs and have really helped my walk with God!
Thanks for the opportunity to win Jenny’s CD!!! 🙂
JJ Heller, Laura Story, Kari Joby, Francesca Battistelli
Different artists, different times. I really enjoy TobyMac.
Love these lyrics!
I would love to win this album! Thanks for the opportunity. 🙂
This year, I’ve been inspired by Nick Flora and Stacy Lantz, who both released albums this year produced by Andrew Osenga, who produced this one by Jenny Youngman! So I’m sure that her music will be thought-provoking and moving in a similar way.
Not too long ago, I heard music by Watermark. The words, the music, just speaks directly to my heart. Sometimes, it’s like they’re singing what’s in my heart.
I love Dave Barnes.
