I forgot this picture for What I Wore yesterday…
Stunning, right?!
Anything for a good cause and Operation Christmas Child is a GREAT cause!
Have you packed a shoe box before?!
We were first introduced to Operation Christmas Child through MOPS a few years ago. It is a WONDERFUL way to get your children involved in giving to other children!
As we watched the videos this year, my five-year-old realized that some of the children were receiving their first Christmas presents EVER. He has asked me over and over again, sadness and disbelief in his eyes, “So, they wouldn’t get a present without Operation Christmas Child? No presents at all?” I think he’s getting it. And my eyes fill up with tears each time I think about it as well.
We can do something about it.
Here’s how it works…
Decide whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, as well as the child’s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Then take your kiddos to the dollar store or Target dollar aisle and pick up some goodies that will fit in a standard size shoe box {or similar size plastic container}.
Some ideas of what to pack…

Everything you need to know about packing and sending the box is on the website – it’s pretty easy AND you can even track your shoe box to find out where it ended up! {Bonus: geography lesson for the kids!}
Please consider packing a shoe box or two with your family this weekend and dropping it off at a collection site next week!
We’ve got two of those red and green boxes on our kitchen table right now. It’s a great way to get kids involved in thinking of others.
You wear it well!! What I love about this ministry is the children–those who pack the boxes and those who open them. May their hearts be forever filled with God’s love.
Hoping we can get one done this week…
