Fall Style from F & F Clothing at Hy-Vee!

I received these items to review from F & F Clothing at Hy-Vee.

Omaha ladies, this one is for you.

If you haven’t heard, select Hy-Vee stores have recently added clothing stores alongside the grocery aisles. While some may laugh at this idea, I think it is genius, especially if it is done well. I already shop at Hy-Vee because I love their service and selection, but now I can also check out clothes and accessories for the whole family while I’m there?! SOLD.

I am happy to report the collaboration between F & F Clothing and our local Hy-Vee is exactly what I hoped for!

  • The clothes – stylish
  • The selection – beautifully varied
  • The prices – very affordable

Between back to school clothes for the boys, new fall styles for me, and even a fun  hat, we’re all excited about F & F Clothing, so it’s time to share the fun with you with a fall outfit I’m loving!

Side note: It was sunny, windy, and 90º during this photo shoot. The fashion blogger life is so glamorous.

Jean jackets and plaid shirts and skinny jeans…ah, I love fall. F & F Clothing has all the fall colors and styles to update your wardrobe as the seasons change!

I’m all about plaid shirts when fall arrives, but I’m not quite ready for full-fledged flannel! This lightweight plaid shirt is perfect for the seasonal transition. The navy and white make it versatile, but the copper stitching gives it the perfect amount of flair!

These skinny pants are called the “push up jean” because of their high waist and skinny fit. Hallelujah for high-waisted pants! I went with a khaki color because it will pair well all fall and winter with my favorite tunics. Because these are more of a pant than a jean, there are no belt loops, which is the only drawback for me. I love the fit and length and they come in both neutral and flashy colors!

Last, but definitely not least, let’s talk about this denim jacket. It is hands-down the best denim jacket I’ve ever tried on in my whole life. It is amazingly soft and fits me perfectly. This is one of those pieces I will have in my closet forever.

This whole fabulous outfit came from F & F Clothing at Hy-Vee in Omaha, located at 180th and Pacific! Even if you don’t live near this Hy-Vee, you need to make the trip to check out the selection for yourself, your husband, your kids – everybody! And when you do visit for the rest of September, tell them you’re visiting from Home with the Boys and get 25% off any regular-priced items!

Here are few more of our favorite finds from F & F Clothing…

Matching shirts for the boys! Regular price was around $10, but they were on sale for less than $6 each!

Fun hat for all the seasons! Less than $20!

A note about sizing: The staff is super helpful in figuring out what size you wear in this brand because it won’t be your “normal” number size. In general, subtract 4 from the number on the hanger to figure out the US size. For example, a size 10 in F & F Clothing will fit like a size 6. If you’re not sure, just ask!

You really need to check out F & F Clothing at Hy-Vee for yourself! Don’t forget: shop in store in September, tell them Home with the Boys sent you, and get 25% off all regular price items!

My Fall Uniform

I received these items to review from Sweet P & Fi. I was not compensated in any way for this post and all opinions are 100% my own.

I am a capsule wardrobe dropout. I just couldn’t stick to 30-40 pieces exclusively for a whole season because I like to mix things up. I do, however, like to have a go-to outfit for the days when I want to feel comfortable, confident, and put together without too much thought. Honestly, we want to feel like that every day, right?

My fall uniform is something you will find me in at least four days a week. It’s more of an outfit formula and looks like this:

long top + skinny bottoms + boots

This formula gives me a starting point, but it also allows for lots of creativity, so I never feel stuck like I did with a capsule wardrobe. While I adore this uniform, I have a found a few challenges within this formula.

First, long tops such as tunics don’t always fit me well because I am smaller on top and wider on bottom. More fitted tunics are tough because, if I pick a size to fit my hips, the shoulders are much too big. This is why I pick longer tops either with stretch, a slight flair at the hips, or with lots of flow.

Second, skinny bottoms can mean lots of things: skinny jeans, jeggings, skinny pants, faux leather leggings, and leggings. I LOVE comfy leggings for my “skinny bottoms” option, but leggings present lots of questions. Are they soft? constricting? see-through? Will they fall down over and over again?

As fall officially sets in this week, I’ve been pulling out my fall clothes, planning different variations of my uniform, and adding a few new key pieces to update it for 2016. My new go-to place for all things fashionable is Sweet P & Fi, an online boutique, owned by lovely local mom, Molly!

Here’s my fall uniform, the Sweet P & Fi edition!

The very second I saw this tunic, with its amazing fall color, front pocket, cowl neck, and perfect fit, I knew I had to make it mine. It has a great texture and won’t be too hot on a sunny fall day. Sweet P & Fi is also getting the same top in black – I must have it! These will be up on the site very soon, so keep your eyes open!

What is it about a pocket that makes a tunic so much more awesome?! It just does. The cuffed sleeves are another fun detail – you can show off your arm party on both arms!

Let’s talk about the leggings – yes, those are leggings! They totally look like jeans, but they are incredibly soft and don’t fall down! HOORAY! I wore them all day and felt fabulous in them!  Check out the ribbing around the knees – isn’t that fun?

One last Sweet P & Fi piece you may have missed in this outfit – those leather earrings! Molly makes them all herself and they are SO reasonably priced. I picked some brown snakeskin-like leather to go with all the warm autumn colors and I adore them!

I can’t tell you enough how much I love Sweet P & Fi. Molly has great taste and is very picky about what she adds to her shop. She also cares about giving her customers a good deal. Her prices are AMAZING and shipping is free! FREE! Here are a few of my other favorite pieces:

Don’t forget – shipping is always free! You can’t beat that!

Two questions for you:

  1. Do you have a fall uniform?
  2. What Sweet P & Fi pieces are you loving?

What I Wore

Yesterday it “dipped” into the upper 70s for a high and it was just enough to give me hope that fall is just around the corner! But we still had plenty of highs in the 90s over the past week, so my outfits were a little all over the place, from tank top + shorts to jeans + long sleeves!

Here is what I wore this week…

IMG_9980

I learned my lesson early: a hot day at the zoo means hair up and cool clothes. I’m still loving this “Be Strong and Courageous” tank from Zoe Clothing Company from last summer and I’m happy to say it’s still available! Polka dots are the best.

This is my excited look because my “Mothers of Boys” shirt from The MOB Society fundraiser showed up this week! Isn’t it super cute?! My oldest boy told me I needed to get pink so I listened and I love it. We’ll be doing more t-shirt designs in the future, so stay tuned!

The tee is even better when paired with the Josie bomber from Evy’s Tree. Warning: you’ll see that bomber again in this post. And the jeans + boots are from Noelle Mae Boutique! Don’t forget, you can still get 15% off your NMB order through tonight (Wednesday) at midnight CST with the code HOMEBLOG at checkout!

Another summery day, another summery outfit: Banana Republic outlet tank + a skirt I found at my local grocery store for just $10 (seriously!) + Saltwater Sandals. I wasn’t so sure about the skirt length at first, but it’s amazingly comfortable and I think it will look adorable with cowboy boots + a denim jacket this fall!

IMG_0028

I told you you’d see that bomber again! That’s because I’m totally falling in love with lace and this bomber is just the perfect amount for any outfit. I wore it to church with this $9 Target clearance maxi dress, a necklace from Kohl’s from YEARS ago, and Clarks wedge sandals. I’ll be wearing all of this together again!

And yesterday, at last, fall started to peak through. I’m embracing the fall transition with distressed jeans (same from NMB above – use HOMEBLOG for 15% off), ankle boots (less than $20 on Amazon!), and the fall colors in this Elegantees tee + Starfish Project necklace! Also, lace top extenders are the best fashion invention ever. Jaime gets in different top and dress extenders in all the time over at Noelle Mae Boutique, so keep an eye out for some to try!

I can’t decide which fall clothes I’m most excited to wear! Hoodies, jeans, boots, scarves…happy sigh…

What are you looking forward to wearing this fall?
