Ready for a few pictures?!
It’s What I Wore Wednesday at The Pleated Poppy and I’m joining the fun!
Summer is in full swing here, complete with heat, humidity and storms! It’s easy to feel frazzled and frumpy when the heat gets you down, but I’m trying to combat that feeling this year with a few things…
*Bright colors
*More skirts and dresses
*New hairstyles
Now that I’ve shared my goals, help me stick to it, ok?
Here’s what I wore over the past two weeks…
Comfy day at home and outside. Mercy hair band from Mercy House Kenya. Necklace – “Take Hope to Heart” from Lisa Leonard and DaySpring.
Tried wavy hair earlier in the day, then twisted it up as it got warmer out! The skirt was a $1 Goodwill find, and the cute flower pin is from Petunia Blooms!
A day at the Henry Doorly Zoo, including a stop at the TIV {Tornado Intercept Vehicle}, a seven-ton armored vehicle, which was there with professional storm chasers from the IMAX® movie Tornado Alley and the Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers series. I love the color of this top and it is super comfortable! Great buy from GAP a while back!
Dressing up for church – Target top and jewelry, Banana Republic skirt and my fave summer heels!
Lunch with the pastor’s wife. Comfy and sparkly – great combo in my mind! Tank top from GAP Outlet.
This top is another fun $1 Goodwill find – light and airy for hot summer days. The colors aren’t exactly bright, but the pattern is bold and I love that!

I had another great trip to Goodwill this past weekend and added a few more skirts to my wardrobe! Look for them in the coming weeks!
How do you keep yourself from looking or feeling deflated in the summer heat?
I love your style- very similar to mine. I also love that you share the Goodwill finds. I don’t have enough patience to go to Goodwill frequently to peruse the racks (maybe once a year) but seeing this post is inspiring me to maybe check them out more. 🙂
Looovee the hair! So swept up and pretty!
And you know I love a Good Will find that works magic!
You look great!
I love the twisted up do! So pretty.
You look so summery and happy in all your pics.
It’s a challenge for me to add color to my wardrobe too. Something I’m working on!
Love that last shirt!
So cute! Love your style!
I had to smile at your “lunch with the pastor’s wife”comment because my hubby is a pastor and I had lunch with a friend and today was introduced as “the pastor’s wife.” I don’t mind, I AM his wife, lol!
I don’t think I keep myself from looking deflated, I think I wilt in the heat, haha. I put my hair up and try to dress in tanks and shorts (or capris). We don’t have a/c so if the temps go up I just melt. I try to drink lots of ice water though.
I totally forgot to say how cute you looked in your outfits! I love thrift store shopping!
I wish you were standing in your Banana Republic skirt so I could see what it looked like. You always look fab in skirts!!
Thanks Lisa!
