I’ve never been able to believe a woman when she says, “I can do this on my own.”
Don’t throw things at me – I don’t me that a woman CAN’T do anything by herself.
I mean I don’t actually believe that a woman WANTS to live life “on her own.”
We were created with a need for connection.
A desire to find someone with whom to relate. Someone to support us and understand us and “get” what we are about.
When we don’t have that someone, we feel alone. Alone is a dangerous place to be.
Not only were women created with a need for connection, but all humans are intended to have fellowship with one another. Fellowship is how we grow and serve one another.
This connection is a beautiful thing.
I’ve found it so many places…
*with a wonderful Bible study of all new people my last year of college…
*as a new stay-at-home mom with TWO children at our local MOPS group…
*with old friends who are now in similar “places in life” via Facebook…
*in the moms’ nursing room at church…
And now, here I am, sitting at The Relevant Conference, where I found lots of connection last year.
Like-minded women who have bared their souls on the internet now talking face-to-face {with lots of hugging}. And there the connection gets very real.
THIS is what I long for. It is why I pick up the phone to call friends for “no reason.” It is why I get giddy at personal emails and Facebook messages and tweets. It is why I live for personal cards and notes in the ACTUAL mail.
And connection is why I love writing HERE and hearing back from you.
I feel connected with other women and I don’t feel alone. Instead, I feel loved and alive.

When was the last time you sent a little note to a friend just because? Connection doesn’t have to be face-to-face!
Julie has a cute little shop called Whimsical Words that is full of hand-stamped notecards that would be just perfect for reaching out and blessing friends!
A little more about Julie and her business in her own words…
I started handstamping notecards about 10 years ago as a creative outlet and an excuse to get together with friends and create. I branched out to making cards as gifts for family… birthdays, Christmas, etc. Recently I started giving thank you notes as shower gifts. Such a nice touch for new moms! Then I had some friends and family make some special orders and I began selling my cards. I hope that you can find something you like. I love to fill special orders and offer discounts on multiples of the same card design. Let me know what you need!
I love stories of women who were able to take their creative outlet and turn it into a business to bless others!
If you want to purchase some of these cute cards as gifts for your girlfriends, mom, sister, etc., Julie is offering free shipping on all items until November 5th with the code FREESHIP1105!
But how about winning a set of ten personalized notecards for yourself?
Julie is giving away your choice of notecard in this modern design…
or a more vintage style…
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment here answering this question…

She makes the cutest cards! I like to get together and knit with my girlfriends. I ALWAYS look forward to it. Enjoy your time at the conference!
I love chatting with a couple of galpals in the local coffee shop over a steaming green tea latte or fall favorite pumpkin spice latte! Super cute cards, thanks for doing this.
I like to connect with others face-to-face. Doesn’t matter if it’s at the park, over supper, working out together, shopping. I just love to hang out with other women!!
Face to face. I love it when I can have playdates with my girlfriends. Our boys can run and play and tire themselves out while we get to chat, catch-up and encourage on another.
I just got a hand-written note from a friend last week. I should write some notes myself–I really enjoy writing them, but somehow I rarely take the time any more.
At Bible Study – it’s the place that brings about the most quality conversation AND involves java & dessert. LOVE it!
I LOVE getting together with other moms, for a mom’s night out. Whether it be homeschool or church friends, I love meeting face to face! However, I love talking with my best friends who live in FL. We don’t get to do it often since our lives are so busy with our families, but I sure do love to talk to them!
I use to love talking on the phone…now that is my least favorite way of communicating. I connect with a few friends on Facebook (we play Scrabble). I write a few letters (or send cards) to those that aren’t online. I think this stationery is beautiful. Thanks for the giveaway. After seeing so many comments about Bible Study, I’m thinking of joining a Bible Study group.
I LOVE connection of all kinds. Dinner parties, playing with kids, drinking coffee together, studying the Bible, fb, email, notes, EVERYTHING! I love to connect through sharing our hearts…our deepest thoughts. I love your notecards!
Hi Erin! I’ve really enjoyed this series of posts. Speaking of nursing rooms, I know you are expecting baby boy #3. If you are interested in a new nursing cover, I currently have a giveaway open for a great one.
