I can’t let a Tuesday in December pass without mentioning my favorite Christmas albums and linking up with Amanda’s Top Ten Tuesday. Her post is genius today, by the way. Go check it out.
But I have a problem.
There are very few Christmas albums I’ve met that I don’t like.
So, I went with the ten that stick out most in my mind from over the years – and I’m just going to have to be ok with leaving some favorites out!

Top Ten Favorite Christmas Albums
(with a little help from my reindeer – just too cute to not throw this in!)
10. Glee Christmas {Vol. 1}
I JUST got this album yesterday and I love it already! Great song selection, awesome voices, upbeat and super fun!
9. Martina McBride – White Christmas
I don’t actually own this album right now, but my roommate in college did and it has stuck with me since. Martina’s voice is so beautiful and every song was just perfection.
8. Steven Curtis Chapman – All I Really Want for Christmas
Christmas is All in the Heart. Tears every time. I’m such a sap.
The Nutcracker is so magical. I fell in love with it while teaching elementary music and now delight in it with our boys!
6. John Denver and the Muppets – A Christmas Together
This was my absolute favorite growing up and their version of the 12 Days of Christmas cannot be beat. Period. (Ba-dum-bum-bum…)
5. Michael W. Smith – Christmastime
Emmanuel is probably my favorite on this but his version of Jingle Bells and Welcome to this World are amazing as well.
4. The Blenders – Nog
I am a sucker for a capella men’s voices so this CD grabbed me right away. Another one that I don’t currently own, but I did make a Blenders Christmas Pandora playlist so I can get that great big smile on my face. It is the perfect mixture of beautiful music and hilarity.
3. WOW Christmas (2002)
We’ve had this 2-disc set for a while now and I have never gotten tired of it. As on any compilation, there are songs I don’t really prefer, but they are far outweighed by gorgeous renditions of What Child Is This (MercyMe), God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (Jars of Clay), Strange Way to Save the World (4HIM) and It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (Caedmon’s Call and a children’s choir that makes me cry EVERY. TIME).
2. Harry Connick, Jr. – When My Heart Finds Christmas
It would not be Christmas without Harry at our house. Such fun with It Must Have Been Ol’ Santa Claus and Parade of the Wooden Soldiers. And I love all of the big band style Christmas tunes!
1. Mannheim Steamroller – Christmas
This album came out in 1984. I was three. I think my parents had it then because Mannheim Steamroller is in every Christmas memory I have. I don’t even care that I can’t sing along. There is NOTHING like a synthesizer Christmas. No joke.

Ok, time to share your favorites! Because you know I don’t have enough already… 🙂
YEAH! Another Boy Blog to add to my list!! Nice to meet you!
(and I need to add some of those CDs to my collection…)
I’m a HUGE fan of Bing Crosby.
The other day I heard Martina McBride sing “Do you hear what I hear”…oh man! I loved it. I need to add her to my iTunes acct, lol
I only have 4 Christmas CDs. (I know, I know…I’m working on building my collection). One is VeggieTales, so it doesn’t really count. My favorite is Martina McBride’s White Christmas. That CD always gets me in the mood!
I really want to get the Jars of Clay CD Christmas Songs because their version of Drummer Boy is amazing. They also have a CD called Peace is Here: Christmas Reflections, where they share their thoughts about different aspects of Christmas. It’s not music, but it’s good!
Rich makes us listen to the Trans Siberian Orchestra for the entire month of December. I get no say it int. It’s tough being the non-musical one in my house!
Amy Grant’s Tennessee Christmas. Hands down the BEST. Who cares that I was 2 when it came out? I’ve gone through a record and a cassette tape of this album, and I’m now onto a CD version of it.
I’m also quite fond of Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas Eve and Other Stories album.
What a great list. I love them all too!!
Love me some Harry for the Holidays! : )
My favorite Christmas CD is Mercy Me’s. Have you heard it? It has THE BEST rendition of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen EVAH. And Little Drummer Boy. And a bunch of others. : )
I also love James Taylor’s Christmas CD. But Mercy Me is my favorite, by far. : )
