Little J will be attending preschool two mornings a week at the same wonderful preschool Big J attended this past year. He will join in with lessons at home here and there, but I’m working on some fun, learning things for him to do on his own as well!
I probably forgot a thing or two here and there, so watch for updates! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Erin. You are going to homeschool? (I am sure this is in your blog somewhere) Why? What are the benefits/reasons for you wanting to do this? Just curious, that has been a topic of conversation in our house recently. PS. I saw the boys are the zoo the other day with dad, looked like fun times!
We had a few reasons – sending you a message now!
I love a neat bookshelf with new books!
It looks like you are set up for a good year~~
Now the key is trying to KEEP it looking nice! We already have more books than this so I need to figure out how we’re going to organize them! I’m excited for the year!
Have you looked into Rebecca Sitton Spelling? I used it teaching in Colorado and liked it a lot! I’m anxious to see how your year goes and what you like/don’t like. We’re getting ready for 2012-13 but will start with some stuff this September, too.
I had never even heard of that! I will look into it! So far we’ve been deciding between All About Spelling and A Reason for Spelling. I will keep you posted! Thanks for stopping by!
We just finished the Apologia Astronomy, we really enjoyed it. So jealous you get to use the new junior notebook. =p
Yay! Congrats on your official start to this journey! You will love it. 🙂
Hi Erin! I didn’t know you were homeschooling! I’m homeschooling my oldest as well, who will be beginning kindergarten too. Are you involved in a homeschool group, or would you be interested in starting one? I’m looking for ways to connect with some other homeschooling families with boys/kids of similar ages.
I have heard great things about the junior lapbook from Apologia! So exciting – isn’t this fun (and addictive)?!?! ENJOY!!
Thanks for linking up friend!
I just love looking at what everyone else will be using. Looks like you will have an awesome year!!
Looks like fun!!
Looks great!
We’re using Apologia Astronomy this year too. My son is so excited about it. He’ll be in K this fall.
I’m anxiously awaiting my copy of Educating the Wholehearted Child. Raising Real Men is excellent, as well as Wild at Heart
Happy learning!
We are loving All About Spelling, and are halfway through it.
I love that you put up what you’re going to be learning as well. What a neat idea!
Hopping over from Educating Layton link up! Great line up, I have a K this year too! Hope you’ll stop by as well!
Thanks for linking up with my back to school carnival!
I have Educating the Whole Hearted Child in the mail and I can’t wait for it to get here so I can read it. I’ve also read Wild Things and really enjoyed that book! I’ll be checking out some of the other boy books on your list, too. =)
I LOVE Educating the Whole Hearted Child! One of my favorite resources that I have had on the shelf for over 8 years now and often pick it up and am reminded of my goals.
From a mom with all girls….Enjoy your year of schooling!
Stopping by from the Not Back to School Blog Hop … love your curriculum choices. We really enjoyed the devotional our 24 Family Ways. Apologia Astronomy was amazing … my son is still talking about all he learned this past year.
Wishing you the best this school year!!
I mozzied over here from HOTM’s NOT Back to School Blog Hop and it’s so exciting to me to see other moms list their aspirations for their homeschool! I see that you are using a couple Doorpost titles — I would love to hear how you use them! We are using the Instruction book, but I have considered the Plants Grown Up for my son (but he’s only 4) and Polished Cornerstones for my girls. We’ll see! I do hope you’ll head over to see what’s going on at our homeschool!
Thank you for sharing and have a blast this year!
We did Math U See Primer and Apologia Astronomy last year. Both were great! The hardest part of math for my son was that he knew the answer but didn’t always remember how to write the number.
Great list – have fun!!!
We did MUS Primer last year with my 2nd and 3rd child together – loved it. We also have Speekee on DVD and all 6 of my children enjoy it, though my 10 yo says it’s getting a bit young for her..LOL. Have a fun year!
I love that you have books planned for yourself to read. That’s a great idea!
I’m visiting from HOTM Not Back to School Blog Hop.
Your blog is very cute! I love all the little boy pictures in the background. We absolutely LOVE Math-u-See and I’m sure you’ll love it too. The Seeds Family Worship looks very interesting and I’m currently checking that out. Thanks so much for sharing all of your plans with us! Found you through the blog hop and just stopping by to connect and say hi! Many blessings to you!
found your blog thru the HOTM blog hop! what a FABULOUS idea to include assignment planning for mom–that is brilliant and i am going to work on incorporating that into our plan immediately! thank you for sharing your curriculum, i’m looking forward to reading your blog often.
Stopping by from the blog hop! Thanks for participating and happy homeschooling this year!! 😉
Visiting from the HOTM blog hop. I hope you enjoy your year! Looks like you’ve got lots of great plans. I think it’s a great idea to list the books for Mom too. 🙂 One of my all time favorite books is Educating the Whole Hearted Child.
Dropping in from the HOTM blog hop. I hope you enjoy your year! Looks like you’ve got lots of great plans. I think it’s a great idea to list the books for Mom too. 🙂 One of my all time favorite books is Educating the Whole Hearted Child.
It is always so fun to see what everyone else is using!
There are several things on here (Apologia Science, A Reason for Handwriting, MathUSee) that are on the short list of things I am considering for this year. It’s always encouraging to hear from others about them.
I am also going to check out some of your Bible and Character links as I haven’t finalized what I am using for that yet either (I am hopelessly disorganized!) Hope you have a great year!
I’m (slowly) reading Educating the WholeHearted Child and Raising Real Men as well – both great books!
Very fun–love the idea for a title of school. I also love that you listed the books for you because I was planning on doing that, too (just for myself, not my blog) and some of those books are the same! This will be my 1st year homeschooling, as well, although for 2nd grade and preschool. I’ll subscribe so I can keep up on how your year goes!
Sounds like a great plan! I love Apologia science books. We may do one this year too.
~Lynn
We are in our 2nd year of HS. I have my 2nd one starting K this year. So exciting, we use All About Spelling and love it. Have a great year.
I love your list and I love that you added what you are learning and working on too. I’m a mom of 4 boys…. and a husband in Chiropractic school…
Happy schooling this year!
I’m curious to hear about your experience with Speekee! It was a close runner-up to our decision for Spanish this year.
We love Seeds Worship, Math-U-See….
And we’re excited about doing Apologia for the first time this year!
Best of luck to you!
Looks like a great year!
Looks like great choices for your kindergartener! Have fun!
We use Apologia Astronomy last year with my daughter and I will be using it again this year with my son. I haven’t tried the notebook journals out. So, I will have to check back in with you to see how you like them.
It looks like you will have a great year! Many blessings!
Erin,
I’ve been on a four month hunt for a kinder curriculum. My husband, 3 daughters and I attended our local homeschool convention. I’ve printed tons of sample pages from various curriculum websites (i.e. Alpha Omega, Sonlight, etc). I’ve purchased homeschooling guide books, and have read many homeschooling blogs written by wonderful moms.
But I have to say that the curriculum posting in your blog has been the most helpful out of ALL of my research. I’ve prayed for help in finding a curriculum for my 4yr old daughter Willow and I truly believe Christ lead me to your website.
Thank you!
Blessings,
Steph
