We have been so blessed to be working with the wonderful people at Zondervan and Zonderkidz and reading some of the AWESOME books they have for children! I wanted to take some time to tell you about a few of our favorites today – they would make wonderful gifts with meaning for any children in your life!

Children of God Storybook Bible {Deluxe Edition}

Retold by Desmond Tutu

There are a lot of storybook bibles out there, but this one is uniquely written by Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and the illustrations are the inspired work of several different artists from various cultures. The deluxe edition also includes the complete book on audio CDs, with the stories read by Desmond Tutu himself. {The boys were so fascinated by his accent!} The recommended age is 4-7, but younger children would enjoy having it read to them or listening to the CDs as well!

The Beginner’s Bible Book of Prayers

For the younger kiddos in your life, this board book of twenty prayers just for little ones would be a wonderful gift! Colorful pictures are taken from The Beginner’s Bible and each prayer is linked to a specific Scripture. One of my favorite prayers in this adorable book: “Dear God, I am little, but with your help I can do big things. Help me to be strong and brave. Help me to stand up for what’s right, even if no one else does.” Too cute and perfect for preschoolers!

Looking for a gift for older children?

Big J and I highly recommend the I Can Read: Made By God series!

I love these books for several reasons…

1. They are level 2 – just challenging enough for Big J without being too long or frustrating.

2. They are all about animals – the boys LOVE anything having to do with animals. The facts are interesting, so Big J is reading AND learning about all kinds of animals.

3. The “made by God” part – just the right emphasis on these animals being part of God’s marvelous creation!

There are currently twelve books in the series, covering everything from sea creatures to Australian animals to barnyard friends!

And how about a new holiday favorite?

Song of the Stars: A Christmas Story

I’m a sucker for anything Christmas-related and that goes for book to read with the boys as well. Add to that my love for Sally Lloyd-Jones {of The Jesus Storybook Bible fame} as an author and this book was bound to be a hit at our house! While much of the world was oblivious to the arrival of Jesus, this beautifully illustrated book shows all of creation preparing for and rejoicing in the birth of our Savior. I had tears during our first read-through. And the boys sat STILL for all of it. Win! It really is a fabulous addition to our collection of Christmas books – one we already cherish!

And you can win your very own Song of the Stars from Zonderkidz right here on the blog today!

This will be a short giveaway because I want to get the book out to the winner ASAP, so…
