I am not a natural at this housekeeping thing.
I love to do things at home – cooking, crafting and the like.
But the cleaning and organizing does NOT come naturally to me.
To my husband – yes. To me – no.
It has definitely been my desire to improve in this area, but my actual progress in the area has had its ups and downs. More of the latter. You get the idea.
But I had never really committed to pray for this area of my life before. My solution – TRY HARDER. And that was working really well (note the sarcasm).
Hello?! Hadn’t I heard this verse before?!
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.Psalm 37:4
Instead of trudging through the daily tasks of cleaning and maintaining my home, I should be committing EVEN THAT to Him and taking delight in what He provides for me to do.
And THEN He will give me the desires of my heart.
I would love to say this post is to tell you how much I adore my daily chores now.
But it’s not.
In all reality, I just had these revelations this past week, so I am still in the process of turning it over and changing my attitude.
However, I had a small victory this week.
There are just certain things I usually don’t notice or choose to do something about right away – probably things some of you “naturals” would cringe at.
The other night, as I was heading to bed, I noticed dust – lots of dust – on one of our wall vents. Normally, I would have walked on past and not missed a beat. But that night, I WANTED to clean it. So I did. It felt good.
So, change, it is a-comin’.
Slowly, but surely, He is giving me the desires of my heart.
One or two little messes at a time.
