Nebraska is hosting the National Special Olympics right now.  The state is buzzing with activity and most of it is free and open to the public!

So the boys and I and some friends headed to the Special Olympics Town to support the athletes and for some fun activities!

I’ve never been to a Special Olympics event but I always hear about the wonderful spirit and energy that is present, both in the athletes and volunteers.

We got to witness that beautiful spirit today.

We had fun playing games, eating and listening to entertainment.

But the best part was talking to the athletes and volunteers. Everyone was all smiles. And I mean EVERYONE. You could not be there and NOT be in a good mood! Well, unless you are a hungry and tired four-year-old!

The highlight for me was running into the the Nebraska bowling team.

I don’t remember what was said at this exact moment, but these guys were cracking me up! Being goofy, talkative and SO proud to represent Nebraska. And get their picture taken 🙂

I just loved it.

It was a beautiful moment that reminded of all the joy there is in life.

We just have to choose to see it.
