Welcome back the hubby for another insightful guest post…

I have found that new parents employ a variety of methods to tell others the news that they are pregnant.ย  However, I have found that people mostly fall into one of several categories.ย  I have listed them below:

The Megaphone

These are the people that will tell everyone as loudly and as quickly as possible. They often announce it as soon as the pregnancy test is positive, or perhaps as soon as the woman misses her period. These tend to be first-time parents, but sometimes others as well. And sometimes it is with good reason โ€“ those who have struggled with infertility, those who have waited a long time, etc. They want to celebrate, and they want the whole world to celebrate with them.

The Fashionably Late

These people start off by just wanting to wait to make sure it is real. Then it becomes almost a see-how-long-we-can-go-without-people-finding-out type of thing. Or perhaps they wait until they can show off an ultrasound picture at 12-13 weeks. These people tend to be visual, I can show you the evidence type of people. Or they just might be procrastinators. Or maybe they are the people that are on that show โ€œI didnโ€™t know I was pregnant.โ€ Either way, they wait and wait to tell people. Just because.

The Master of Ceremonies

MicrophoneThese are the people that feel that it is important to disseminate information in the proper order.ย  The order itself might vary depending on the parents (parents, best friends, co-workers, siblings, etc.), but I am convinced that these people sit down and make a list of important people in their life, and then go about telling people in that very order. I would imagine that this is quite stressful.

The Social Media Woman

These are the people that just throw out the information to the masses via Twitter, Facebook, or their blog.

And that is what we are doing here at Home with the Boys today.

We – Mom, Dad, Big J, and Little j – ย have a new addition coming our way in late February!
