“Sons are the anchors of a mother’s life.”
-Sophocles
If that is the case, I have three crazy, amazing anchors keeping me grounded and very, very busy these days! If you follow me on Instagram, I’ve been doing a little introduction/update on each of them. I thought it would be nice to also have it all in one place, even if it is just for me, so here is my latest production: Home with the Boys: A Play in Three Acts.
ACT ONE
AGE & GRADE: 13, just finishing up 7th grade
PERSONALITY: extrovert, curious, inventive, leader, witty, intelligent, passionate
INTERESTS: music (trumpet, jazz band, choir, show choir), running, math, science, history, reading, movies, coding, swimming
FAVORITE MOVIE: Guardians of the Galaxy
FAVORITE SONG: “Waving Through a Window” from Dear Evan Hansen
FAVORITE BOOK: Projekt 1065 by Alan Gratz or The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton
FAVORITE THING ABOUT HIM: I love talking with him. Whether we’re running and chatting about life, talking about movies and music, or hashing through the hard stuff of growing up, he is a great conversationalist and always has the best insights.
SOMETHING HE ALWAYS SAYS: “I will eat you.” 🤣
ACT TWO
ACT TWO: Little J (or J-Money, as he says 🤷🏼♀️)
AGE & GRADE: almost 11, finishing 5th grade and graduating from elementary school 😢
PERSONALITY: introvert (but lets all the crazy out at home), competitive, funny, smart, justice-oriented, perfectionist, strong-willed
INTERESTS: being active, sports (watching and playing), math, reading, running, tennis, NFL, chips (Fritos are his favorite), music
FAVORITE MOVIE: Avengers: Age of Ultron
FAVORITE SONG: “The Elements” by TobyMac
FAVORITE BOOK: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling
FAVORITE THING ABOUT HIM: Watching and talking sports with him is the best. He pays attention to all the details and stats and actually knows what’s going on for most every sport. He reminds me of me at his age (and even now) because he loves watching Sportscenter and knowing all the latest sports news. If only he was a Packers fan, not a Bears fan…
SOMETHING HE ALWAYS SAYS: “Well, actually…” 🤦🏼♀️
ACT THREE
AGE & GRADE: 7, finishing 1st grade
PERSONALITY: extrovert, sweet, curious, observant, intelligent, crazy energetic, cuddly, determined, independent
INTERESTS: playing outside, running, tennis, golf, anything that involves being with other people, math, reading, recess, moving all the time, board games
FAVORITE MOVIE: How to Train Your Dragon 3
FAVORITE SONG: “Joy” by For King and Country
FAVORITE BOOK: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling
FAVORITE THING ABOUT HIM: He has always been the sweetest, most loving of the boys with his words. When he was little, he would always say, “You’re the prettiest girl in the whole world and you’re pretty!” He is always saying “I love you!” and “You’re the best, Mom!” and “Thank you!” and so on. He also gives the best hugs. I know he’s the youngest, so this level of affection might diminish as he gets older, but I hope it always stays this way!
SOMETHING HE ALWAYS SAYS: “Can I go….?” (always, always, always on the go)
We hope you enjoyed our production of Home with the Boys: A Play in Three Acts! Please drive home safely and come back again soon! 😉
P.S. Would you be interested in an encore about the parents?!
