You guys: THE FIRE IS BACK. 🔥 After a craptast You guys: THE FIRE IS BACK. 🔥

After a craptastic morning - getting stuck for 45 minutes in the snow at 6:45am, making the hubby miss a presentation to get me unstuck, kids missing early morning activities, and shoveling snow for the FOURTH TIME in 3 days - my motivation to get my run done was LOW. I didn’t want to move, but I knew I NEEDED to.

I was talking to @runningdocsm as we were both getting ready and he asked me, “What’s your goal? Your inspiration? What are you aiming for today? For the spring?” I didn’t have a great answer at the time other than working on safely upping my mileage each week and running a harder workout today.

Then I did the @onepeloton NYC Marathon simulation run with @becsgentry.

We were supposed to run NYC last fall, but once everything was cancelled, training for a virtual marathon was the last thing I wanted to do. And because of injury, I never got around to taking this run...until today.

During the warmup, I decided I was going to see if I could hold my marathon PR pace for most of the run. That PR was from the 2019 @indymonumental and it was my first sub-4 hour marathon. As Becs talked about her 2019 NYC race, the memories from Indy flooded back for me, too, and I found myself crying right along with Becs!

That marathon PR was also a negative-split marathon for me, so once I got to thinking about it, I decided to negative split this workout, too, and it looked like this:

1.5 miles up
1.5 miles at 8:57 (marathon PR pace)
2 miles at 8:49
.5 mile at 8:41
1.2 miles at 8:34
.3 miles cool down
(7 mi total)

I don’t know why today or why this workout, but the emotion and the nostalgia and the feeling of pushing through a hard run with no recoveries just lit the freaking fire under me again! If you need evidence, swipe to see my face immediately post-workout. That feeling needed to be captured. 🤣 And my @sarahmariedesignstudio Indy 26.2 sweatshirt was the first thing I wanted to put on after my shower. ❤️

I’ve been putting in the work for months, just maintaining fitness and building mileage and getting stronger, but now the fire is lit.

I’m ready to work for something.
I’m ready to set some goals.
I’m ready to RUN. 🏃🏼‍♀️
Happy #nationalspouseday to my favorite person in Happy #nationalspouseday to my favorite person in the world! 💚 We met in college marching band, but later found out we were at the same music camp in high school - so crazy! 🎶

We’ve been together since 2000 and married since 2003 - celebrating 18 years of marriage in May! 💍 How is that possible?!

A few more fun facts about us:
•Neither of us were runners AT ALL when we met - that all started 9 years ago!
•He sang to me at our wedding and it was the best 😭 He also sang at my sister’s wedding - absolutely beautiful version of The Prayer. 🙏🏻
•We’ve lived in four homes in two cities since getting married, including building our current house.
•We love to rewatch our fave TV shows over and over again, especially The West Wing and Parks & Rec.
•He is the organized one in the relationship! I’m a mess, but his ways have slowly rubbed off on me!
•Him: introvert and Enneagram 1
Me: extrovert and Enneagram 7
Us: perfect compliment to one another!

So thankful to be your wife, @runningdocsm! I love you and I like you! 💚
