Last night, our church held a worship night – an hour and a half of just worship.
I needed that time badly and God showed up.
As we sang, “The Stand”…
I’ll stand with arms high and heart abandoned,
in awe of the One who gave it all
I couldn’t stop thinking about the word “awe.”
And I was so overwhelmed with that awe and emotion that I couldn’t even sing.
I sat down, pulled out my journal and iPad {for the Bible} and these verses filled the page…
Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? ~Exodus 15:11
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised,
and he is to be held in awe above all gods. ~1 Chronicles 16:25
Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;
I will proclaim your greatness. ~Psalm 145:6
I get so caught up in the seemingly mundane of the everyday that awe is the last emotion I would expect to feel in a normal day.
But isn’t that what counting my blessings every Monday is all about?
It’s not just a list – it’s an awe-inspiring list of all I have to thank Him for. It’s pulling out the “hidden” blessings to fill my heart with joy.
The awe I felt last night CAN be a part of my everyday.
To be in awe of Him and His work in my life is a choice I can make and will make today.
Thank you, Jesus.

What inspires awe in your life?
I love this post, Erin. We were going over the definition of awe with the boys this week and one of them said “like I feel about God?” …yes, that we would all be in awe of the One.
Awesome night at church! What a great, awe-inspiring experience! Love your list and just so happy for all that God has in store for you!
Oh, what a sweet post! I love it when I just get so overwhelmed in worship that I can do nothing but stand with tears streaming down my face, hands raised in the air. Have you heard the song “O the Blood” by Gateway? Kari Jobe sings it…that’s the latest one that had me at the end of myself!
