While We’re Waiting…

No baby yet, so here’s what I’ve been enjoying while we’re waiting…

And trying to keep this in mind…

Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. ~Psalm 62:5

What helps you in your times of waiting?

Could This Be The Week?! {Multitude Monday}

Baby Boy 3.0 is due tomorrow {or today depending on which due date estimate we’re going by}.

We are SO ready for him to be here – physically, emotionally, mentally, in every way!

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
   your works are wonderful, I know that full well. ~Psalm 139:14

Have a blessed week! We look forward to introducing you to our newest little guy when he arrives!

Now, about this alternate universe I’ve entered…

I thought some of these changes might happen gradually, but no, last Monday night…BAM. I had no idea what hit me!

In one evening…

*BOTH boys ate BROCCOLI.

*BOTH boys ate strawberries, and one is now in love with them.

*BOTH boys completely cleaned their plates at dinner.

*Big J decided he wasn’t going to take baths anymore. He was going to take a shower. By himself. This boy HATED showers. Now, it’s the only way he wants to get clean. And he even asks to take a shower on non-bath/shower days. He is five.

What is going on in this house? What happened to my children?

{By the way, NOT complaining at all – jut in shock. Still.}

What have your children done to surprise you lately?

Sick in Bed & the Sea of Red {Multitude Monday}

It really is quite the miracle that we even made it to the Husker game this weekend after a stomach bug took down both boys during the week…

Poor boys…

But, by God’s grace, everyone recovered in time for us to take the hubby’s parents up on their offer to watch the boys while we took their season tickets for the Nebraska vs. Washington game!

If you’ve never been, it truly is a sea of red…

A little chilly in the 96th row, but a GREAT view!

Pre-game team pile-up.

The band makes the Nebraska “N” during pre-game!

Balloons being released after the first touchdown!

There is no place like Nebraska – or Memorial Stadium on game day!

And what a HUGE blessing to be on a date with the hubby, watching football, with free tickets, parking AND babysitting after the long week we had! So grateful to his parents for making that all happen!

And many more blessings from that long week…

661. Hooded sweatshirts.

662. A chilly, rainy weekend {I love the rain!}.

663. Weekday naps.

664. Fresh flowers on the table.

665. Another Husker win!

666. Kashi Pita Crisps.

667. The boys hearing baby’s heartbeat for the first time!

668. Football Saturdays and Sundays. Amen.

669. The first official day of fall this week!

670. Lots of time with grandparents {my parents will be here this week!}.

671. Getting on track with quiet time again.

672. A super-large Sonic Cherry Coke at just the right time from a friend.

673. Getting details planned out for many, many things to come.

674. Root beer floats.

675. A great first week of swimming and piano lessons.

676. Slippers.

677. Hands with which to work and create.

678. A boy who loves to spell!

Ah…Much, Much Better {Multitude Monday}

I can’t take credit for the title of this post – it’s all Little J. He says this after he goes to the bathroom. Too much information, I know.

All this to say, after a long week, I am feeling much better and I am so thankful.

I am particularly thankful that I was feeling better in time for most of the weekend, to enjoy moments like these at the campground with the hubby’s parents…

#621-633 as I count the gifts with which He has blessed me…

And to add to that list…

634. A night to recover from the week with the kiddos at the grandparents’ camper.

635. Pain medications.

636. Star Wars marathon.

637. The hubby’s determination to find out exactly what was wrong with me.

638. Homeschool on the couch.

639. A friend leaving their house at 9:30 p.m. to help with car troubles.

640. “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” ~Psalm 30:5

It’s amazing how much your perspective changes, even in the rough times, when you are on the look-out for the blessings He continues to pour out. Thank you, Ann, for leading us in the way of gratitude daily!

Catching Up {Multitude Monday}

Today is one of those random posts where I just kind of throw everything that has been going on in our lives lately at you all at once…

*We’ve finished four weeks of homeschool! It has definitely had its up and downs, but I do feel like we’re starting to find a bit of a groove. I’ll be posting next Friday over at The Homeschool Village with the diary of our first month – the good and the bad!

*The hubby and I had an AWESOME date night Saturday – Noodles & Co., mini-golf and ice cream/smoothies & video games at McDonalds to finish out the night! We had wonderful conversation and laughed a lot.

You know what the key to great conversation on a date is for me? Leaving the electronic communication devices at home! I actually don’t even have my phone with me – we leave it with the babysitter because we don’t have a house phone. No distractions = focused conversation with my honey, and with two little boys, that time is rare!

*As I write this, we have a sick Little J, throwing up over and over again and just wanting to go to sleep. Such a trooper – no whining or crying, he justs wants his own bed. Not a fun way to end the weekend. Praying it passes quickly…

And in the middle of sickness, still so much to be grateful for…

601. Pixar marathon on TV to distract the sick boy.

602. Hearing my guys all play basketball together in the basement – lots and lots of giggles!

603. The hubby doing dishes and cleaning up from dinner while I take care of the sick one.

604. A yummy new sandwich on date night.

605. Cooler evenings.

606. Excitement over a new project for homeschool this week!

607. My sister and her hubby celebrating their first anniversary!

608. A hubby who encourages me to write, even when I don’t feel like it.

609. Grace from forgiving friends.

610. First trimester exhaustion starting to go away?!

611. These AMAZING cookies – chocolate, peanut butter and PRETZELS!

612. The delights of Pinterest – my happy place! {Are you on there? You can find me here!}

613. Stealing a few kisses between mini-golf holes 🙂

614. A church with a GREAT sense of humor.

615. A menu plan for September made BEFORE September is here!

616. Friends lending cute maternity clothes – I am set!

617. Combining art and science lessons {clay model of Stonehenge!}.

618. Biblical motivation: “Who can find a wife with a strong character? She is worth far more than jewels. Her husband trusts her with all his heart, and he does not lack anything good.” ~Proverbs 31:10-11 {GWT}

619. Excitement for the first night of Wednesday night church activities!

620. Comments from each of you – seriously, they always make me smile! Thank you!

Just Keep Counting {Multitude Monday}

Oh, Monday, how I love you.

Seriously, it’s the start of a fresh week and another chance to count my blessings and declare His goodness in our lives.

And that’s what this whole Multitude Monday thing is all about – it’s not about how many comments or pageviews I get every Monday. It’s about Him and how He loves us and my opportunity to recognize that and tell the world.

He is GOOD and so I will just keep counting…

561. Reading a book with my feet in the kiddie pool.

562. Grilled hamburgers.

563. National Ice Cream Day 🙂

572. “Remember you are not managing an inconvenience. You are raising a human being.” ~Kittie Franz

573. Winnie the Pooh.

574. The hubby in scrubs 🙂

575. The boys’ fascination at our new globe.

576. ‎”My success in life or in motherhood or as a Christian is not dependent on my being perfect, but on my allowing God, in the Person of the Holy Spirit, to work through me to accomplish his purposes.” ~Sally Clarkson

577. 133 baptisms at our church this weekend! {54 were spontaneous decisions!}

578. Pancakes and sausage.

Home Sick {Multitude Monday}

We are home 24 hours earlier than planned from our vacation.

Yesterday was supposed to be filled with the annual extended family 4th of July weekend festivities and fun at the lake.

Instead, we were driving home with two sick boys, then headed to the doctor to find out they both have strep.

But even as we all had a restless night of sleep Saturday, I couldn’t help but think how I am blessed.

Even though I wanted to be mad that I wasn’t getting any sleep, I just gazed at their sweet, but miserable little faces and thanked the Lord that we are the ones who get to take care of them.

The hubby and I had just arrived back from a glorious getaway as the boys were getting sick, but every ounce of my being wanted to be right there – fevers, sore throats and all – because our boys needed us.

And those moments, no matter how crummy they may be, help me grasp the fullness of the blessings of motherhood.

A few more of the many blessings in my life this week…

521. Just the hubby and I for three days.

522. In the Arizona sun.

523. With nothing at all scheduled to do.

524. And lots of lazy river time.

525. Another fabulous annual getaway. {more on this soon!}

526. The boys having a super fun time with grandparents and aunt and uncle!

527. Books that change the way you think.

528. Time to read those kinds of books.

529. Safe flights.

530. Being back in my own bed.

531. The boys sleeping peacefully through massive neighborhood fireworks.

532. Life moving forward.

533. 10 months left of med school for the hubby! 4th year starts tomorrow!

534. Patriotic music.

535. The Christian heritage of our forefathers.

536. The sacrifices made for our freedom.

537. Those who continue to serve and protect this great country.

538. “One nation, under God.”

539. “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” ~2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT)

540. A reason to celebrate! Happy Fourth of July everyone!

We’re laying low at home today due to the strep, so tell me what YOU are doing this Independence Day!
