Valentine’s Day Style with SoloHope!

It’s time for another installation of my collaboration with Shannon from The Simple Moms! She is a fellow fashion lover, but she is a mom to four girls and, as you know, I’m a mom to three boys! We thought it would be fun to show you how we view style from two different perspectives – a girl mom and a boy mom. Be sure to check out her fabulous post today as well!

I received this jewelry to review. I was not compensated in any way for this post and all opinions are 100% my own.

Mom Stylin'

I love a good reason to get dressed up. And I really, really love red. Valentine’s Day is the best of both worlds. This year, I’m adding one more love to my Valentine’s Day style: fair trade jewelry!

The Red Cheer set from SoloHope is THE perfect set to add a pop of red to your Valentine’s Day outfit. I love the jewelry and I love the story behind Solo Hope!

SoloHope’s founder, Emilee, fell in love with the people of Honduras on a missions trip at age 16 and, on her subsequent trips back to the country, learned of the need for many women to provide for their families as well as the lack of jobs for these women. Emilee dreamed up a jewelry design, partnered with these women as artisan designers, and started selling the jewelry here in the United States. And SoloHope just keeps growing! I love it all.

The Red Cheer set – a necklace, bangle bracelet, and earrings – is part of the Luxe 2.0 collection just launched this winter. Each piece is beautifully handcrafted in Honduras with pine straw and thread. It is the perfect blend of fun + glam. Can you tell how much I love it?!

I went for a dressier look with this fabulous asymmetrical dress, red skinnies, and short black boots. You can’t go wrong with black and red on Valentine’s Day!

I also wore this set out on a more casual date night with The Hubby last weekend with a white button-down and distressed jeans. I changed up the length of the necklace by doubling it over and tying the ends with ribbon around my neck. If you want just a little pop of festive red, this is the way to go!

YAY for Wednesday!

Yep, we love Wednesdays around here! The boys are all excited for their first night of AWANA and I get to do a fun fashion recap for the week. Winning!

Here’s a look at what I wore this week AND you’ll want to stick around to the end for a fun discount on my favorite clothes!IMG_9854

In my search for a for a cute, casual black skirt, I stumbled upon this beauty from Liz Alig! Liz Alig is all about being fashion forward in an ethical way. They work with fair-trade producers and eco-friendly fabrics. Super cute dresses, shirts, skirts – they have it all! This is the Chinna skirt, a fair-trade skirt from India made from 100% organic cotton. It’s super comfy and has POCKETS! I wasn’t sure I could pull off the high-waisted skirt look, but it’s really fun! I love this unique skirt and the great company behind it. I paired the skirt with a fun pineapple tank from WalMart, the Aztec Chevron necklace from Beautiful + Beloved, and my Saltwater Sandals.

I’m going to transition now to my love for a particular mom-owned boutique. I’ve been wearing something from Noelle Mae Boutique every single day of this current week and I’m not one bit sorry. Let me highlight a few favorites and if you see something you like here, I have a discount for you to use while you shop!

Wifey Pink Skirt Sitting Blog

You already know about this Wifey tee, but I couldn’t help to share it again because it is so cute and super soft. This tee runs a little small – I wear a medium instead of my usual x-small or small. To make this tee even better, Noelle Mae Boutique (NMB) offers it for just $16.99!

Floral Sleeve Tee

I dressed in NMB from top to bottom for our lazy Sunday! The hat is from Target, but everything else can be found at NMB! I adore gray tees, so this floral sleeve tee speaks my love language with a fun little extra flair on the sleeves. And it’s SUPER SOFT. I think Jamie finds the softest tees anywhere. The jeans are Cello skinny boyfriend jeans, also from NMB. I like the open distressing on these because it is at the knees and not showing through anywhere inappropriate! I don’t see the skinny version on NMB right now, but these are very similar, just not as skinny! Even my sandals are from NMB, the Emilio II Sandals which are on sale for just $15 right now!

BeYouTiful Tee

I had some deep thoughts while wearing this BeYoutiful tee. You can read those thoughts on Instagram, but I have exciting news about the tee – it is a custom order tee and Jamie has opened up orders right now just because my IG friends asked for it! The tee comes in a few colors and is a ladies cut. I’m wearing a medium in this picture which is a little roomy and longer on me. I could probably do a small, too, and be ok! Don’t miss this opening to order you own! The necklace is my favorite from Work of Worth and I can’t even remember where I got the skirt!

Vintage Tee

Let’s finish off the week with one more great tee from NMB! The Vintage tee is classy and comfy, making it easy to dress down with denim shorts or dress up with black skinnies. There are only a few left on the site, so grab yours before they are gone because you will want to wear it ALL the time. I had to wear it with my brand new Waterfall necklace, a piece from the new Local + Global line from fashionABLE and Miriam Collection. This necklace could be worn with anything – it is so versatile. The bag is also fashionABLE and the sandals are from Target!

Ok, now that you want to order all the things from Noelle Mae Boutique, how about a discount?! This code is just for you because I love you and know you will love NMB as much as I do! Did I mention she doesn’t charge shipping? So awesome. From now through midnight Wednesday, September 9th, use the code HOMEBLOG at checkout to get 15% off your order! I’m totally drooling over the stuff she has added for fall, so this is a great time to shop!

**Noelle Mae Boutique also has a great Facebook group where Jamie shares pre-order opportunities and members post how they are wearing NMB items! If you’d like to be added, leave your email address in the comments or send me an email at homewiththeboys at gmail dot com!**

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

What I Wore

I know, I know. Style posts two days in a row. If you don’t really care about fashion, I’m sorry. But if you do enjoy talking fashion, like me, then YAY! More style talk!

I’ve been wearing lots of shorts + tanks thanks to the hot, humid weather, but this week I mixed it up a bit with a maxi skirt, a hoodie, and my favorite cowboy boots!

Here is what I wore this week…

What I Wore 8-12 Gathered Maxi Skirt

Basics can be beautiful, right? I love having staples that can be thrown together easily, like this black Target tee (very favorite tee in my closet), gathered maxi skirt from Beautiful & Beloved, and Saltwater SandalsThe skirt is 40% off right now and available in this smoke color, as well as berry!

What I Wore 8-12 Sienna Ashley

This outfit just screams fall. I was in my happy place because it was cloudy and a little cooler. Not THAT cool, but I was comfy in this inside! I paired the new Sienna Ashley from Evy’s Tree (get 10% off at that link!) with a great Elegantees tee, my new favorite Kan Can jeans from Noelle Mae Boutique, a fabulous Noonday necklace, and my thrift store Skechers find!

What I Wore 8-12 Jump

See? Happy place.

What I Wore 8-12 Accent Ruffle Tank

Big J was invited to a horse-riding birthday party this past weekend, so I had to break out my favorite Lane cowboy boots! With all the stuff you find in the stables and riding arena, I was glad to have jeans and boots on, even if it was quite hot. This accent ruffle tank is another great piece from Noelle Mae Boutique! I know it will be a valuable layering piece for me this fall! (I AM wearing a cami under it – it’s just nude colored!) Remember, you can get 10% off your first Noelle Mae Boutique order when you shop here!

That’s it for What I Wore this week! Make sure you check out all the fun What I Wore posts all linked up over at The Pleated Poppy!

Stitch Fix #4

This post contains referral links.

I took the plunge and scheduled my fourth fix from Stitch Fix this month! My sister recently ordered her first and ended up keeping everything, so I was extra motivated to try again. Plus, having referral credit definitely helps!

My last fix had some patterns and colors I wasn’t crazy about, so I put in some very specific requests this time. My stylist, Nicole, took these notes seriously, actually looked at my Pinterest boards, and sent a fix that was really great!

IMG_9293 2

#1 – Fabia Crochet Detail Knit Tank – $38

In my notes, I asked for a neutral lace-type tank to layer under hoodies and jackets for the fall. This top was just what I was looking for – very soft, neutral, fun detail down the front. The only problem: just the weekend before I found a tank I liked even better at a thrift store! VERDICT: Sent back.

#2 – Glynn Faux Leather Detail Moto Legging – $58

Nicole picked out these awesome leggings that I would love to wear with flats or boots this fall…but I already have black faux leather leggings, so I couldn’t really justify another pair, especially at that price. But I will say, if you are looking for well made, thicker (but not fleece-lined) leggings, you must request these – very fun! VERDICT: Sent back.

#3 – Haven Dress – $64

Such a darling, versatile dress! I asked my stylist for more classic patterns in this fix, so polka dots are perfect! The dress fit well, but I have a couple of black + white dresses that I like the cut of better, so I didn’t need this one. VERDICT: Sent back.

IMG_9292 2#4 – Corinna Striped Dolman Top – $48

Another classic pattern win from Nicole! Perfect fit, amazingly soft, great colors (navy + white). I don’t love that it is hand wash only, but that wasn’t enough to make me shy away! VERDICT: Kept!

#5 – Layda Crochet Top – $58

I’m not sure I would have ever picked this top out at a store, but I’m so glad Nicole sent it to me! This isn’t the greatest pic of the top and it’s hard to see the lovely detail, but I have already tried this one with skirts and colored jeans and a leather jacket over it. I know I will be wearing it so many ways all year round! It even has a built in black cami. Again, it is hand wash only (ugh), but I like that it is something new, but also very versatile. VERDICT: Kept!

I think fall is the perfect time to schedule a fix, whether it is your first or your fifteenth! Stitch Fix can help you step out of your comfort zone AND build up your staples in the same box. And after you sign up, don’t forget to share your referral link with your friends so you can start earning credit for your next fix!

I really wish I would have LOVED the whole box, because then you get everything for 25% off, but not this time. I’ll keep trying Stitch Fix every few months until that magic box happens!

Any questions about Stitch Fix? Have you given it a try yet?

What I Wore

People have asked me before how I would describe my style. That’s hard to do because I don’t really have one style. I think this is partially why I couldn’t stick to capsule wardrobe. I like to mix it up, dress to match my mood, not be held to a certain way of dressing on a regular basis.

I do know one thing: I like to be comfortable. High heels and I have never really gotten along. If the clothing is too tight to move, I’m not wearing it. Hot weather means you’ll find me in tanks, shorts, and sun dresses. Cool weather means I’ll be layering, probably with a cute hoodie on top.

Thankfully this week, we had some hot AND some cool weather, so I wore both tanks and jeans. And it was all super comfy. Here’s what I wore this week…

What I Wore 8-5 2

We headed to zoo for Member Appreciation Day last Wednesday and it was hot and humid. The last time we had gone to the zoo, I wore my hair down and regretted it the whole time. Hot, sticky mess. I wasn’t making that mistake twice, so I searched easy braid tutorials on Pinterest and came up with these milkmaid braids. The braids stayed in place, kept me cool, and I LOVED the way they looked! A Pinterest hair win for once!

The tank was a fun purchase with Zulily credit – it’s my favorite color and I have a slight obsession with pineapples, so it was perfect! I added this Work of Worth necklace for some extra color and wore my favorite Paisley + Sparrow earrings that I wear multiple times a week.

What I Wore 8-5 1

We spent the weekend at my parents’ house and, while I have plenty of pictures from the weekend, I failed to capture any of my outfits. Whoops. BUT while we were away I had the super fun privilege of meeting Jaime, owner of Noelle Mae Boutique, and sorting through her fabulous racks of clothing! I came away with several cute things to show you, but let’s start here with the Wifey tee and Kan Can jeans. The tee is amazingly soft, the kind I want to pull on every day. It made The Hubby smile big when he came home from taking his boards to see me wearing this shirt! The Wifey tee runs a little small, so keep that in mind when ordering! I usually wear a XS or S shirt and this is a M.

Now, can we talk about the jeans? I’ve been on the hunt for my first pair of distressed jeans and the selection has been greatly disappointing. I don’t need anybody but my husband seeing my underwear. I haven’t really loved any boyfriend jeans I’ve tried on either. Jaime talked me into trying a pair of Kan Can jeans in the Boyfriend Distressed II style. THEY ARE FABULOUS. They are cute, comfy, just the wash I was looking for, and the BEST PART – there are patches behind the distressing so no unwanted underwear or skin showing through! Bonus: The Hubby thinks they are “pretty hot.” His words. A note on sizing: these jeans run big, so you’ll want to size down. I’m usually a 4 or so in jeans and these are the 1/24″ size!

If you’re looking to order the tee or jeans, you’ll want to click here to get 10% off your first order of $25 or more from Noelle Mae Boutique! This is just the beginning of all the fun pieces I’ll be showing you from her mom-owned shop!

What I Wore 8-5 3

Last but not least, we had a wonderfully rainy and cooler day yesterday. I was actually wearing a hoodie and jeans much of the day. It was heaven. The sun peeked through the clouds late in the afternoon, so I ditched the hoodie, but it was just perfect to stick with jeans! The jeans, hat, and tee are all from Target – go figure. The tee is my favorite Target tee – I have it in four colors because I like the material and it can be dressed up or down easily.

I completed the outfit with gold accessories: the Aztec Chevron Necklace from Beautiful & Beloved (use code “empower” to get 15% off), the Tory bracelet for my Fitbit from Funktional Wearables, and these marvelous Sperrys with some fun gold accents. I’d love some more days like today to wear outfits like this!

What are your thoughts on your own personal style? Do you have “a style?” If so, what would you call it? Or are you more like me – go with the flow when it comes to fashion?

It’s about time for another What I Wore, don’t you think? Heat and humidity have been in full force here in Nebraska. The Hubby and I keep saying to each other, “Is it fall yet?” Sure, we enjoy swimming in this weather…but that’s about it. Thanks to air conditioning, I’ve been able to wear some hoodies, but only sporadically. Who else is ready for cooler weather?

While we all wait for the change of seasons, here’s what I’ve been wearing this past week…

What I Wore 7-29 KC

I’ve been looking for an all-white hat for many months now, so when I spotted this beauty – the last one in my size – at Scheels, it had to be mine. It’s already had plenty of wear this week because it goes with everything!

What I Wore 7-29 VB

Late Wednesday afternoon, I received a text from a friend who had free tickets to the FIVB World Grand Prix for women’s volleyball. I’m a huge volleyball fan and three former Huskers were playing for the team, so I scrambled to ok it with The Hubby and find a friend to go with me. We made it just in time for the match and watched Team USA destroy their competition. And we both showed up with the same hoodie from Evy’s Tree. We’re cool like that.

What I Wore 7-29 BLB

I know I said the only thing we like to do in this heat is swim, but we do get outside for other things like attending the best zoo in the whole world. Our zoo is C-R-A-Z-Y in the summer, so we went as soon as they opened to beat the crowds and the heat. In the shade, we found the cutest little elephant statue. Elephants are my favorite and the real thing will be returning to our zoo next year – I CAN’T WAIT. This pineapple tank from WalMart makes me happy about summer and I promise I am wearing shorts. You just can’t see them behind my amazing Brynnda from Better Life Bags, the perfect purse that holds a lot but isn’t huge. And Saltwater Sandals are the best summer sandal. This tan color is perfection because they match everything, but they come in every color of the rainbow.

What I Wore 7-29 Kimono

I now own my first kimono (from Cents of Style) and it is just as lovely as I thought it would be. This was my church outfit and I didn’t want to change out of it because COMFY. Props to The Hubby for going with my “let’s take a picture in front of Target” idea. He’s a keeper. Also, if I’m not carrying the Brynnda bag, I definitely have my Mamuye tote from fashionABLE in hand! The most lovely, versatile leather bag ever.

What I Wore 7-29 Ashley
This outfit is my “PLEASE HURRY UP FALL” outfit. Really I’m wearing a tank and shorts just like every other day, but threw on this new Ashley hoodie from Evy’s Tree because I was feeling rebellious. Take that, summer.

What I Wore 7-29 Reece

It rained yesterday morning and we were inside most of the day, so I felt completely justified in putting on jeans and a gorgeous lightweight hoodie. I didn’t really know how much I liked hot pink until this hoodie came along. My Maurice’s jeans are still the best ever and I’m living in these Bzees shoes because they are amazingly comfortable.

I’m planning out some fashion posts for the fall and wondered what you’d like to see! Let me know in the comments if you have questions or need ideas + inspiration!

How are you feeling about summer – love it or leave it?

Wednesdays are for What I Wore! As a mom of boys, it’s fun for me to share my girlie side here each week talking fashion!

IMG_7371 3

Last week was the funeral for a fallen police officer in our community. It is such an incredibly sad situation, but I was so moved by how our community came together to honor her. This is one of the memorial shirts to benefit her family. I wore it down to police headquarters with the boys to see the memorial placed there by people from all over the state.

Anybody else dealing with rollercoaster weather in your area? We’ve had warm days and cool days, but much more of the latter, so coffee + my Evy’s Tree hoodies have been a lifesaver. The coral Diana is the perfect summer wrap – lightweight, dreamy soft, versatile. I adore it.

Apparently I decided to match our lunch location with my Evy’s Tree Brilla! The hoodie was accompanied by my fave gray tee and the best jeans ever from Maurice’s. I want to wear these jeans every single day.

Remember how I said I adore the Evy’s Tree Diana? Here it is again! I think I wore it every day this past weekend. It was the perfect jacket for our anniversary date night, paired with a fun burgundy top + white capris from Target, gold jewelry from Charming Charlie’s, my fashionABLE Mayume tote, and these amazing Clarks wedges!

If you need me this summer, I’ll be at the tennis courts at least four hours a week for the kids’ lessons! There are no trees around the courts, so it’s either windy + chilly (like it was yesterday) or super duper hot! Yesterday was definitely hoodie weather, so obviously I grabbed my Evy’s Tree Ashley hoodie with my fave Old Navy tank + GAP shorts. I love tennis so much and being in the sun is a major bonus! Summer, we’re so glad you’re here!

What have you been wearing this week?

Welcome to my weekly What I Wore post – a chance for me to get all girly and talk a little fashion since I live with ALL BOYS. If I started talking about ethical fashion and luxury hoodies with them, I would be ditched for Legos in about 1.4 seconds. Instead, I share it here with you and on Instagram because that is my favorite social media channel ever!

Here we go with what I wore this past week…

Okay, you can hardly see what I’m wearing in this photo, but my friend Marie and I were sporting leis and festive head wear for Hawaiian Night at AWANA…while the winter wind howled outside to remind us we weren’t REALLY in Hawaii. As if we could forget…

I went all matchy-matchy with Big J for our family day at the zoo. Not only did we both grab our Converse to wear that day with cuffed jeans, but we also wore our awesome new Wildly Co. shirts! Wildly Co. is the very best idea ever – ethical fashion basics for kids – and it was started by my friend Hayley and her husband!

Big J is wearing the pullover in teal with heather trim. He loves it. And I’m wearing one of the limited edition tees from their initial Kickstarter campaign! The boys also have several tees from earlier Wildly Co. lines – they are all amazing! Two things to watch for with Wildly Co.:

  1. Enter your email on the Wildly Co. home page to 15% off your first order!
  2. Watch for their limited edition monthly tees – a new one each month!

Also in the zoo outfit is my Krochet Kids beanie and my newest Evy’s Tree hoodie which may also be my favorite! The Brilla ruffles are perfection, the weight is great for any season, and the color is just what this Husker fan was hoping for! Here’s a closer look at the ruffles and pockets:

I’m warning you: you’ll be seeing this hoodie in LOTS of What I Wore posts from now on and I’m not sorry about it!

Saturday comfort at it’s finest: another amazing Evy’s Tree hoodie, comfy wide leg jeans, and a hat. Double J and I were cuddled up after a day filled with a long run, basketball game, and The Hubby being on call at the hospital. We were all ready for bed at this moment!

When wind chills have dominated the winter weather, 35º feels like a heat weave, so on Sunday I pulled out my favorite Target clearance dress and shrug, paired it with leggings, threw on my new PopBasic necklace {get $15 off with that link!}, and celebrated the “warmth” as we headed to church!

And since it was also the first day of March, it was a no-brainer to wear my green flats from The Root Collective. Stay tuned this week because The Root Collective is launching their new spring line of shoes and you’re going to LOVE them! Trust me – I already have a pair!

It is only fitting to finish up today’s post with a great new shirt that perfectly captures my favorite month! I look for great St. Patrick’s Day shirts every year around this time and usually find something for the whole family at Old Navy. I was disappointed with their selection for women this year, but never fear, because Target came through with several cute options!

This was the PERFECT shirt – super comfy, no year listed on it, GREEN. Don’t be surprised if you see me wearing this a million times this month, as well as year-round because I’m just a huge fan. If you’re looking for a St. Patty’s Day shirt for yourself, check out Target this year!

Spring is ALMOST here – what are you looking forward to wearing once the weather warms up?
