I’m obsessed with everything about fall. It is driving me nuts that the weather is not lining up with this week’s official change in season because I want to wear all the fall things! My closet is full of fun fall outfits just waiting to be worn: layering ideas, cozy fabrics, boots + boot socks…I could go on and on!

Since this is the first week of fall, let’s talk about what to include in those outfits as the temps change. Patterns are everywhere, being mixed and matched, and I’m loving so many of them! Here are my five favorite patterns for this fall, plus two extras I just couldn’t resist and ideas of how to wear them all!

Five Prints for Your

Dots

Fall Style Dots Blog

I love a good polka dot, but any dots or spots will work! This splotchy dot tank (similar) from Banana Republic Factory is a great fabric that can be worn with a classy black pencil skirt for a dressier occasion or dressed down with jeans and an olive button down. Other items pictured: Merona olive button down from Target, hi-rise jeggings from American Eagle, mustard mocs from Noelle Mae Boutique

Floral

Fall Style Floral Blog

I use to shy away from florals and there are still some I’m not crazy about, but subtle floral prints like this one make me all swoony and romantic now. I truly believe there is a floral print out there for every woman because they come in so many sizes and colors. I’m digging this floral tunic from Zulily because of it’s unique pattern and fall colors. It was just meant to be worn with cowboy boots this fall, don’t you think? When you search for fall florals, think darker colors and neutrals that can be easily layered as the months get colder. Other items pictured: cowboy hat from Target, Willow boots from Lane Boots, brown jeggings from WalMart

Geometric/Tribal

Fall Style Geometric Blog

I can’t be the only one who is loving all the flowing cardigans and tunics featuring geometric shapes and tribal themes! I love that these prints make a bold statement, but also come in classic black and white, colors any woman can wear with confidence! This Target baby doll dress is an amazing mix of geometric shapes, flowing silhouette, and muted colors. I can pair it with so many layers very easily – jean jacket or vest, leather jacket, and even this lace cardigan. Embrace geometry this fall and add some feminine touches to make it your own. Other items pictured: Josie tunic cardigan from Evy’s Tree, jeggings from American Eagle, Steve Madden ankle boots (similar)

Animal Print

Fall Style Leopard Blog

My seven-year-old will love that I included this one. He’s a big fan of leopards and every time I wear leopard print, he compliments me. It’s super cute. And animal print is super cute, especially because it is practically a neutral these days! I picked up this adorable leopard print baseball tee at Charming Charlie’s and added a lace tank top extender underneath, for extra coverage with the sheer fabric and lengthwise. I will be wearing this top like crazy this fall. If leopard isn’t your thing, try zebra print for a walk on the wild side! Other items pictured: Cello Skinny Distressed Boyfriend Jeans and lace tank top extender from Noelle Mae Boutique, ankle booties from Amazon (less than $20!)

Plaid

Fall Style Plaid Blog

Fall and plaid are like best friends. I was dying to wear plaid on the first day of fall, but it was just too warm. It was sad. This beauty of a plaid shirt is from Costco. It was less than $15. I should have bought more. You can’t go wrong with plaid – with a puffer vest, layered over a striped shirt, or like this, with lace and leggings and boots. I might not have tried this look a year ago, but it’s one of my favorites for this autumn. Rugged and ruffled are a perfect match. Other items pictured: lace tank top extender from Noelle Mae Boutique, Hue leggings, Mitscoots boot socks (use HWTB20 for 20% off), Lands’ End riding boots (several years old, but still amazing).

BONUS: Stripes + Camo

Fall Style Stripes Camo Blog

Plaid + lace felt like a stretch for me at first, but now I’m loving mixing and matching, so this combo has me all giddy! The classic striped top can be worn a million ways. Camo is popping up on everyone. They are both so neutral that putting them together looks natural, but also a little funky. This basic H&M top is the perfect, inexpensive striped top. The camo pants (same cut pant) were a clearance rack score at the American Eagle outlet. I like to add a metallic touch and a classic solid to balance it all out. Take a chance on these bonus prints this fall – and bonus points for wearing them together! Other items pictured: GAP denim jacket (old), Wild Copper Tieks
