I first heard Matthew 11:28-30 from The Message over a year ago at the dotMom conference and I just haven’t been able to shake it.

Yes, it is beautiful in other translations as well…

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” ~Matthew 11:28-30 {NLT}

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” ~Matthew 11:28-30 {ESV}

But The Message translation of these verses spoke to me in just the right way at just the right time…

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” ~Matthew 11:28-30

I can’t imagine a better group of verses to soak in, process, really meditate on this weekend.

Go to Jesus. Spend some time with Him and learn how REAL rest feels.

Grace. Light. Free. THIS is how He longs for us to live as we walk with Him.
