I mentioned the book briefly a few weeks ago, but Shari Braendel deserves much more mention than that.
I love Shari because she is helping women around the world discover the true beauty God created in them and giving us fashion and beauty tips along the way! Her website, conferences and book are sources of great encouragement and advice.
Good Girls Don’t Have to Dress Bad is full of fashion and beauty advice for EVERY woman – make-up, hair, and especially clothes and accessories are all laid out for women of different shapes and skin tones.
I’ve seen several books that claim to have beauty advice for “every woman” before, but this book actually lives up to that claim. The models in this book are REAL women and they are full of beauty.
So, the book is absolutely fabulous, but what I really want to tell you about is Shari’s Color E-nalysis.
I have often wondered, and I’m sure you have too, “What colors ACTUALLY look good on me?” Am I right?!
Color E-nalysis is a free, online tool to help determine your color classification – Soft, Deep, Cool, Clear, Warm, or Light. Just answer a few simple questions and you’ll have your answer before you know it, along with some colors that will make you look even more radiant!
I did the e-nalysis several weeks ago and was determined to be in the “soft” classification! I learned from the site and from Shari’s book more about what I should and should not be wearing…
I should be wearing LESS black, especially near my face.
A softer white looks better with my coloring.
Grays and browns are better neutrals for me.
This was a great starting point for me! But I wanted more…
So I moved on to the color fabric swatches Shari offers!
Shari will take your color classification, and a picture you email of yourself if you choose, and put together a collection of 36 fabric swatches that will suit your coloring!
I was a little skeptical but…
Once I got these swatches, I was convinced! You can read and look online as much as you want, but holding actual fabric swatches in your hand is where it’s at! You can hold them up to the clothes in your closet and take them shopping with you – THAT is very helpful!
I’ve been working this week at putting these swatches into action AND our new camera finally came {and the old one started working again that same day} so I have at least one picture to share…
The green of the shirt was a color that was suggested in my swatches to “make me pop!” My tummy is already “popping” without any extra help, but I do love that color and how fresh it makes me look!
I also added a light gray cardigan {instead of black} and jewelry {from Mercy House Kenya} in a blue that was suggested on my swatches.
Until I took the picture, I didn’t realize just how correct the color e-nalysis was! I’m loving this combo!
I want to invite you to head over to Shari’s site to get your free color e-nalysis right now, and after you do, come back to tell me your results to be entered to win a FREE set of color swatches!
I can’t wait to hear what you discover about the colors you should be wearing! It’s so fun!
You can do the free color e-nalysis anytime, but you can only enter this giveaway until Tuesday, November 21st at 9 p.m. CST!
And don’t forget to head over to The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday today!

YES!! You look GREAT!!!
I agree – you look great! My color e-nalysis results were in the soft category.
You look great! So I had to check it out too. I did it twice, because the first time it came up with ‘clear’ and one of the descriptors was “exotic” which I don’t think I am at all. So, the 2nd time it came up as ‘soft’, I think that was probably closer since it suggested reds, which I often feel do flatter me. Thanks for introducing me to this!
I think that green is one of my favorite colors! I have several shirts that color in my closet.
I did the analysis because I’m a sucker for those kinds of things – and I’m warm. Brown as a neutral and ivory instead of white. Autumn colors with yellow undertones. Which I pretty much guessed would be the result.
The one color that makes me laugh is purple – every time I wear something purple, I get so many compliments on how good it looks. And I think it looks awful on me! I’m wondering if any purples would show up in color swatches for me.
This is what the e-analysis said : COLOR INTENSITY: Medium hues
BEST NEUTRALS: Charcoal and medium brown
WHITE OR IVORY: Soft ivory
BEST SHOE AND PURSE COLOR: Medium brown
POP COLORS:
Pop colors are those colors that make you look amazing no matter what! These are the colors that you’ll want to wear with your neutrals to accent your wardrobe or wear alone to look your absolute best. Every woman should know what her POP colors are! Not only should you build your wardrobe around the colors that flatter you, but you can experiment using them in your living spaces too.
BEST MAKEUP SHADES FOR SOFTS:
Neutrals and browns with slight casts of pink or peach
My result was “clear” – so I should be wearing blacks and grays for neutrals and bright pinks for my pop color. I do tend to get compliments when I where bright pinky colors so maybe I’ll re-evaluate how much brown and dark colors I wear.
You are so talented! Seriously, Erin, these are the neatest projects you have completed! (I don’t see them in this post, but they were in the email notification I received.) Love this green and blue on you. And, awww, you look wonderful–your little son is growing!
Thanks Michelle! They were in yesterday’s post 🙂
And yes, that little boy and my tummy are getting much bigger!
I took the color analysis and mine came up Light. I am not really crazy about those colors. If I don’t win, I am definitely thinking about ordering the swatches and sending her a picture to make sure I chose the right hair color/eye and skin color. I even asked my hubby and kids to help me and it still came up light. *sigh* Maybe that is why I don’t like the way I look a lot of the time, is because I am not wearing the right colors. It would be nice to win this. I definitely need to invest in the book. 🙂
This was fun! I’ve been meaning to go through my closet and now I know which colors I should be keeping. Thanks! 🙂
My result was warm, here’s what the site said I should be wearing.
COLOR INTENSITY: Hues with a yellow undertone, autumn-like shades
BEST NEUTRALS: Any shade of brown
WHITE OR IVORY: Ivory
BEST SHOE AND PURSE COLOR: Brown
BEST MAKEUP SHADES FOR WARMS:
Browns, neutrals, berries
You are so packed with goodness…love this idea. Need to look at that book!
I like you in yellow.
hugs!
Love her book. Love her!! I’m a clear.
i’m a clear too!
You look great in those colors, so I had to check it out. I’m always trying to figure out what looks best on me…if I did it right, I’m a SOFT. I never thought I could carry off red, but this says I can, so I’m hoping I win to get the swatches and see what color red and also get her opinion to see if I did it right! (We just don’t have any money to spend on this sort of thing.) Thank you for the chance!
Thank you for the great info… and “review”. My results… If Deep is your dominant color characteristic, your strong coloring demands deep shades of beautiful colors and can be worn with bright or light ones for contrast or with a combination of other dark hues. Stay away from pastels. The softest shades of the color spectrum will only make you appear tired and washed out. Instead of a light shade of pink, opt instead for a vibrant purple or lime green.
COLOR INTENSITY: Medium to deep shades, some brights
BEST NEUTRALS: Black or dark brown
WHITE OR IVORY: Both
BEST SHOE AND PURSE COLOR: Black
That was fun! I am a CLEAR.
That was fun! I was in the CLEAR category, but I think I may have picked a complection # that wasn’t right…it’s hard to tell! I would love the fabric swatches and send in a picture of myself!
